Most safe ratings are provided by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL). The safe must pass through intense testing before they give it a rating that is then prominently listed on safes. Insurance companies depend on these stands that are set-forth by UL to ensure the quality of the product. We highly recommend that when you are purchasing a safe, you purchase one that is UL rated. TL-15 Rate
The TL-15 Rating has been awarded this rating because it has met precise construction requirements that have been initiated by Underwriters Laboratories. The test lasts for up to 15 minutes and requires the use of hand held tools that would commonly be used by a thief to gain access. This could include anything like a drill or hammer. If the tester is unable to get inside within the 15 minutes allotted, the safe is given a TL-15 Rating.
